Monteria is the capital city of the State of Cordoba. It is situated on the northwest coast of Colombia.
Monteria is a growing city with more than 400,000 inhabitants, an area of 3142 square kilometers and an average temperature that ranges from 28°C to 38°C. It is situated at 48 meters above sea level.
Monteria is known as the cattle capital of Colombia. The city displays an outstanding urban, commercial and infrastructure development. Monteria, also known as “Pearl of the Sinu”, is situated on the Sinu River and enjoys a pedestrian path with local fauna and flora along the river’s banks.
Monteria posses one of the most fertile valleys in the world that favors cattle raising and agriculture, the city’s main economical activities.
In June each year, the city hosts the traditional National Cattle Fair. The fair is held in one of the biggest and most modern expositions coliseums in Latin-America. Activities such as: Colombian fine horse riding, commercial and industrial sampling are carried out.
This city is home to one of the most prestigious universities in Colombia: La Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana - Monteria.
The language center of the Universidad Pontifica Bolivariana offers Spanish as a Foreign Language courses with classes starting in both June-July and December, offering various topics, flexible hours and accommodation.
In addition, we offer complementary services such as: Airport pick up in Monteria and drop off at lodging, tutoring from professors, activities such as ping-pong, swimming, gymnastics, contemporary dance , folk dances and specific cultural events including visits to agro-tourist farms, cultural visits to the city, talks or social gatherings based on specific topics. Our Staff
All our teachers are native Spanish speakers with experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Our professors are specifically trained to fulfill students needs both inside and outside the classroom.
Personnel are available in the Language Center to offer assistance in both English and French.
Our Methodology
We believe that the best methodology to learn a foreign language is to combine a series of academic assignments and cultural activities to achieve our main goal: International Communication.
Students will study grammar, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. At the same time, students will acquire a wide range of skills to interact with Latin-American culture appropriately and specifically with the Colombian and Cordobesa society in particular.
Our Groups
Groups are composed of up to 15 students to ensure personal attention and help achieve individual goals effectively.
Our courses are structured in the following manner:
- First cycle: Basic
- Second cycle: Intermediate
- Third cycle: Advanced
- Fourth cycle: Superior
Each cycle has 160 hours divided into 4 levels of 40 hours each.
The prices do not include lodging, meals or entertainment. Rates could vary based upon the foreign exchange rate in the market for Colombian pesos.
Our Schedules
We offer flexible schedules, mornings, afternoon or in the evening.
Schedule:
Morning: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 m.
Afternoon: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Evening: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
We also offer individual courses according to specific needs and availability.
Placement Test
Students with some knowledge of Spanish can take a proficiency test before beginning the course. They will be classified according to the result obtained.
This exam also includes an interview with one of the members of our staff.

We can offer lodging at favorable rates thanks to our agreements with local hotels.
Tutor
Students will be assign to one of our students who will be their mentor. He/she will be in charge of the students comfort in our campus.
Extracurricular Activities
We have designed some tours and activities around Monteria and other touristic places in our state in order to increase interaction with our culture.
Certificate Of Achievement
Students will receive a certificate issued by the university when you finish the course. (conditioned upon attendance of 80% of the classes)
