Study visa application process: if you need to apply for a study visa before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through an acceptance letter from UPB Language Center while in Colombia, you must:
- register, at least, for three courses in a row (120 hours);
- commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week of lessons;
- pay in advance for 100% of the cost of all the courses of the contracted program you will take during the time of your visa;
- attend the 80% of each course. If you fail to attend the 20% of a course without a valid reason and without notification to the coordinator, the University will report the competent authorities of your absence.
If you are planning to enroll for less than 6 months, you must enter the country on a PIP-2 status (except for students from the European Union). In order to get it, you must show the Migración Colombia officers upon arrival an invitation letter from our school. You will be granted 90 days upon entry, which you can extend to a maximum of another 90 days. To prepare the letter, please send the coordinator a copy of your passport. For longer stays, you should apply for a student visa prior to your coming to Colombia. Contact the coordinator for further assistance.
In order to comply with Colombian regulations, you must be in possession of a stamp or visa allowing you to pursue your studies prior to your registration in the program. Typical accepted stamps are PIP-2, PIP-6. Typical accepted visas are TP-3, TP-4, or TP-10 (still valid) or the new visas allowing to study. If you entered the country on a PIP-5 status, it must be changed into the PTP-2 status (except for students from the European Union). To do so, you must go to the Migración Colombia main office in Medellín (Calle 19 No.80A-40). The coordinator will prepare an invitation letter to the program and will explain the process in detail. If you have any other type of stamp or visa, the coordinator will analyze your particular situation.
Apart from teaching Spanish to foreigners, ESPEX allows students to be immersed in spaces full of interculturality, multilingualism and inclusion.
